independence.

I've come to the conclusion that I have the most boring blog on the internet and have resolved to make it at least mildly entertaining. Hence, Kindergarten Dance Party:

Please notice the impromptu Conga Line they start. Because why not? I wish you could hear the music--Roy Orbison, of course--it makes it so much better.

While I'm thinking about it, a word of advice: never blow off your best friend to hang out with your pseudo-boyfriend. It will end disastrously. Ugh. At least I made it down there afterward. Eddie made me feel better. So did Pete.

I leave for Seattle in a little over twelve hours.

whew.

Taking one thing at a time. I have a bad habit of fixing my gaze on everything at once and overwhelming myself. Trying to break it. All of it's doable in pieces.

More and more excited about family vacation. The weather's going to be perfect. Cool the whole time. Hoodie weather in the summer?? My dream come true.

I found two amazing Art activity books on sale at Borders tonight. Last day with kids tomorrow. Unbelievable. I'm'a try not to cry. Haha.

Officially $100 + in the hole. Ugh.

TV time with Sprocket and Fat Cat!

nightmare.

One thing after the other. And no time to deal with any of it.

I am losing my mind.

19 May 2009

over.

I have $32.38 in the bank to last me the rest of the month.

Kenterious' dad died yesterday.

And I'm probably going to a baby's funeral this weekend?

I'm a wreck.

18 May 2009

sigh.

Parker's on life support.
They don't expect him to survive the next two days.
How did this happen??

M.F.C.P.

My cousin's baby nearly drowned today thanks to his prescription-drug-addicted wife. His heart is beating, but he can't breathe on his own. He's not even two years old. I really can't explain how fucking furious I am right now.

It doesn't help that I came home to two dudes and their (unleashed) pit bull hassling me outside my house this afternoon, either. Get the fuck away from me.

I hate this neighborhood. Please get me out of here.

On a lighter note, this is my last week of school with students. I'm relieved and sad--I won't be seeing my fifth graders again next year. So much cleaning to do.

Still looking for houses. Thought about buying briefly, but I'm sticking to rentals.

My dog is driving me nuts. I have to get out of here.

asleep.

Hunting furiously for a new place. I've come across some pretty great stuff. And a couple of the nicest landlords I've ever talked to.

I stayed out yesterday after suffering through Wednesday without a voice. Ugh. What a terrible idea. Slept in. Mom and Dad's. Majestic. Adventureland at Midtown Art. House-hunting. Home.

Still don't feel well today. I tried calling in a refill, but my doctor's office told me I have to come back in. Seriously?? Today at 4:05. What's up traffic . . .

Dunno what I'm doing tonight, really. Eddie wants to hang out. Plans with DGJ later.

Please tell me this isn't the cutest thing you've ever seen:

king kong? king ken!

I was reminded this morning why I do what I do. And that sometimes, I really love my job.

So, Khalil comes up to me sporting this serious fucking, twelve-inch-long handlebar mustache like, "What's up?" Could not stop laughing.

Needless to say, the other kindergarten boys (and a couple girls) got the same bright idea, and what ensued was nothing short of Mustache Mania:

Everyone of those mustaches is totally different. From left to right: Khalil, William, Jermaine, Kenterious (who has been featured in three--yes, three--of my posts thus far), and Jordan.

Anyway. Awesome Braves game Friday night, followed by a brisk sprint through a mother fucking monsoon. Spent Saturday with Rach and cooked out at her house with Stan and Dooley. Didn't do much that night. Sunday, dragged Eddie with me to see a house for rent, had Vortex, braved a hurricane in Target, back to McDonough.

Spent $59,075,980 on groceries last night. Ugh. Determined to bring my lunch to work and stop eating out so much.

Out with DGJ tonight, I think.

I have 26 lioness masks to make for our production of The Lion King (Come see! 6:30 Thursday 14 May @ Banneker High School! Only $5.00!)

I'm gettin' sick again, too. I suppose I'll call the doctor's office and tell them the antibiotics didn't work, despite the fact that I took every pill in the bottle for what is probably the very first time in my life. Ha.
