30 December 2009

the warheads will.

Definitely spent most of the last two days in bed asleep. So sick. This crap hit me like a ton o' bricks. Apparently, Chris, Neal, and Ted are all gettin' sick, too.

Maybe stopping by the Foundation show tonight. I dunno. I feel terrible.

Want Figo.

Always crushed on the boy I can't have/don't really want. Insurance policy.

I wish livejournal hadn't deleted all my screen names.

29 December 2009

oh, let's do it.

This weekend was amazing. The whole week, really.

Got home around 8:15 this morning. Crawled straight into bed. I'm sick and exhausted and probably drove a total of 18 hours in three days. So worth it.

Good friends. Good talks. Incredible show. Met new people. I really like Philadelphia; second time there.

Lots of thinking about where I am and where I came from. All the things I've gotten to see and do since I moved back eleven years ago. I am content. I am pleased with what I've experienced and what I've accomplished and how that's shaped me.

Preezin'! Probably gettin' back in bed shortly.

19 December 2009

break!

Just woke up. Going to take a look at these lovelies later today:

A friend of mine is selling them and I could use new living room tables that aren't from Ikea. The shit I have now looks like play furniture. Ugh.

Drawings I did at school this week:

One of the parapros I share morning duty with asked me to draw her a, "cancer ribbon, but different." The top sketch is what I came up with.

Found a pile of boxes outside my front door yesterday; all presents delivered! Yaaayy! Will wrap soon. Cannot wait to be at Mom and Dad's with the whole family hanging around the house in my pajamas. I love being there.

I suppose I'll get lunch or somethingg.

17 December 2009

square pegs.

Today was fun. I knew I wasn't being observed. Most classes are done with first semester's projects. The kids were in a good mood--a little wild, but in a good mood, nonetheless. Lots of silliness going on as a result.

Tomorrow? Fuck it! Movies all day.

Will be at at First Unitarian Church in Philadelphia on 27 Dec 2009. So excited.

Approached about a joint art show in March. Freaking out a little; I've never shown my work. But really hope it comes through. We shall see.

Laptop is dying! Bye bye bye.

16 December 2009

i'll never let you go!

Got paid today! Forgot we get deposits before Winter Break.

Stopped by Utrecht for watercolor paper and micropens. The things that excite an art fag . . .

Kindergarten was exceptionally cute and cuddly today. I love them. Here are some of my bitty babies:

Lawrence;

Hunter and Bryce;

And finally, my girl Sheniya.

My students are better than your students.

I found a joy buzzer in my room the other day and I've been trickin' kids left and right since. They think it's hilarious, especially the little ones. I like jumping out from behind exit doors at dismissal lately, too. Goddamnit, I love little kids. I can't wait till April Fools' comes around.

Mom and Dad's 31st anniversary today. They're going to Bacchanalia.

I'll probably be painting tonight.

15 December 2009

fuck.

Goddamnit.

I seriously hate all my artwork.

All I can see after I finish is everything I fucked up.

I have a some kind of complex.

i will take care of you.

Pissed that the picture's crooked. But whatever.

Only one person on Earth can make me so heartsick that I don't know what to do with myself. No one knows him; I met him before I was ever even straight edge. Before I moved to Georgia this last time. Today was his birthday. We talked for the first time in months. I cried immediately afterward.

I don't know how to explain our relationship, really. It is inexplicable. And probably not what an unfamiliar party would imagine. Not from this post, anyway.

I'm tired.

13 December 2009

some grandpas go to hell.

All presents bought! Whew.

Talked with Mom for a little while earlier after I saw a bumper sticker I thought she'd like: "Faith is a journey, not a guilt trip." When I asked what they're doing today, she said Dad's goin' to church and she's working around the house finishing up Christmas stuff. I asked if she's been going to church at all anymore and she said no. I know she's been struggling with her faith for a while and asked my dad at one point if they could explore other denominations . . . but I didn't know she'd stopped attending mass altogether. She actually used the words, "anti organized religion," in our conversation. Blown away. And kind of excited, to be honest.

I guess you'd have to be privy to my upbringing to understand why I'm so shocked. I was raised Catholic. Church every Sunday for 18 years, CCD, the works. My parents are/were devout followers--even going so far as to run youth groups and teach CCD for years after I graduated from high school and moved out. I distinctly remember arguing with them on more than one occasion about my skepticism and denunciation; they even told me once that they were sad because they thought that--as a consequence of my atheism--I might be going to Hell. Weird.

I know that might make them sound like fanatics. They really weren't. And aren't.

Anyway. I wish I had literature to give her. But everything I have is relatively aggressive and almost strictly anti-theistic. She hasn't denounced her God, really; so far, she's only questioning the validity and purpose of religious belief in general.

Oooh. So deep . . .

Did a little shopping today for my homegirls at school. Made a few gift bags for them. Little boxes of hot chocolate with chocolate peppermint candy canes.

Just watched Funny People. It was good. Also rented Jurassic Park: The Lost World and grabbed Zodiac and Disturbia out of the $4.99 bin at Blockbuster.

Last week before breeeakk! Linen and Lace on Tuesday.

Bed bed bed.

12 December 2009

money.

Ordered gifts for two more recipients. Little brudder and Dad. My dad is so goddamn hard to shop for. But he gave me a couple ideas this afternoon, so I hopped online and found a couple things I think he'll like.

Knew exactly what to get Kevin.

Mnjhbvyfrd6ytf.

Bored-d-d-d.

EDIT:

Hooooly shit. Losing my mind over a surprise XmasX present. Hope this works out. Hahaaa!

last night i turned the heat on in my house for the first time in 8 years.

Woke up relatively early today.

Stopped by Whole Foods for breakfast. Joked around with a cashier. I like flirting with strangers.

Drove to the FedEx/Kinko's on Windy Hill to put the Golf's owner's manual and title on store hold. The shithead behind the counter told me any package, "has to be processed," (a.k.a. shipped from another FedEx) in order to be held in-store. Goddamnit. Took them to Peachtree Street and paid $21.50 to have them sent all of ten miles up 75 N. Ughghghh.

Met Mom for lunch in Buckhead and stopped by DSW. She bought me two new pairs of boots unexpectedly.

I realize in the pictures they look nearly identical aside from the color. But they're different. I like them both a lot.

Probably doing some more XmasX shopping today. Maybe cleaning house.

I need a coat rack. And some ibuprofen for this headache.

10 December 2009

tired.

The most extraordinary fight in the history of elementary school fights happened at my place of work today. Two fifth grade girls started going at it in the cafeteria. A veritable lunchroom riot ensued, complete with food fighting en masse. Then . . . THEN a cafeteria lady came out from behind the counter and busted a kid in the head with a lunch tray.

What. The. Fuck.

Also, I got a tiny cell phone key chain thingie with a kitty on the front and a digital clock inside when you flip it open. A late birthday present from one of my third graders. Swoon.

Finally, I love the way kindergarteners draw. They're nuts. I have a collection of free draw stuff that's been left in my room. Here are some good ones from today:

09 December 2009

i miss you, but i'd never tell you so.

Every attempt to . . .
is filled with holes.
Reads like a polygraph, I’m told.

I’m not bitter anyway.
Let it go.

I never sleep still,
lest I forget.
Tied down by handicaps instead.

I’m not bitter anyway,
but I didn’t want it to turn out this way.

Sing a long goodnight,
forfeit any fight.
Refuse to rest assured.

It comes with no reply.
Hold on too tight.
I hang on every word.

If it all ended tonight,
you know that I wouldn’t mind.
Back to the good old times
before it won.

we got that b-roll!!!!

Another (bunch of) present(s) down.

I think I'm in love with Curtis Jackson. It is incredibly fucking attractive when a man looks like a brute but is, in fact, surprisingly intelligent. My goodness.

One of my kindergarten loves, Yeshua, has been serenading me in class and in the halls. Yesterday it was Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star. Today, it was Jingle Bells. But he only sang the first line over and over again. Hahaha.

I want to watch John Carpenter's The Thing, the 1978 Invasion of the Body Snatchers remake, and The Blob 1988. Right now. Favorites.

So tired today. I may go to bed early.

Another boring post! Wheeee!!

08 December 2009

as you sow, so shall you reap.

I don't even know what there is to write. Alkcmfoifemnr.

I need to clean house.

My toilet is broken. Attempting to fix it. You didn't know I'm handy, didya?

School was good.

XmasX shopping last night with Mom. One down, (at least) five to go.

I want this so badly:

Notes: Bitter Almond, Caraway Spice, Sambac Jasmine, Cinnamon, Tuberose, Vanilla, Musk, Mosses, Jucarunda Wood.

It smells insane. Like vanilla chai. I already like Dior Addict. And I've worn Givenchy Amarige for years. This is my new favorite. I want to find Bulgari Jasmin Noir, too.

For no particular reason, I just looked at the post I wrote a year ago today--it's the day my house was broken into. What the fuck . . . My life is so different a couple hundred days later. SO different. Haha. I am happy. I'm comfortable.

Solace in solitude.

07 December 2009

godby road.

Sold the Golf--the engine-less Golf--over the weekend for a fuckin' grand. Ah-mazing. Drove by the NAPA today and it was gone. I was a little sad. And then I looked at this:

Was not sad anymore.

I want to see Brothers and Sherlock Holmes. Also, An Education. Because I am madly in love with Peter Sarsgaard.

I've got some ideas for XmasX presents.

Maybe (hopefully) getting some work done Thursday. Something big. Smiling.

It's freezing. I'm makin' myself some waffles.

04 December 2009

in between time.

Holy shit. Just listed the Golf on craigslist at $900 and already got a call. He said he'll take a look at it and as long as it's in the condition I say it's in, "consider it sold."

Working on a teacher sample and watching Jersey Shore in the meantime.

Probably run a couple errands and call it a night.

Also, the Bert Show was right on with that Winter Boyfriend shit. Where the hell is mine?

Lknsfirheorimnalds. Buy my fuckin' car!

03 December 2009

are you getting paid for that?

Today was . . . interesting.

Only had three classes. Third was on a field trip. So I spent some time working on the Linen and Lace board again and decorating my door for the holidays.

Took shitty pictures with my shitty phone, completely forgetting that I have my mom's digital camera in my purse. Ha. The thing is really twice as long as that top picture. It'll take me another day or two to finish it up.

One of my smallest--and cutest--kindergarteners Derrick decided to start howling like a tiny werewolf at the end of class. Of course, as soon as they saw me laughing, the rest of the class joined him in a chorus of little baby Ow oww aaaawoooooooooohh!s. It was ridiculous. Another one kept telling me her clay was, "crunchy." Haha.

Fight during fourth grade. Since when do elementary schoolers throw punches like grown ass men? God.

Started calling salvage yards about the Golf. $100. $125. Called the repair shop it's been sitting in front of for two months and they said someone came by interested in buying it. Haha. Have at it, buster! Offer me more than the junkers did and it's yours.

Tired just hit me. Guh.

02 December 2009

2012.

So, today was pretty great.

Took a half day to paint the Linen and Lace board in the lobby. Was stopped by four or five parents in the process: "You're the Art teacher? My little girl/boy loves your class!" Holy shit. Could not stop smiling. One of my CSTs came by and told me she can tell I've, "arrived," as a teacher.

But most importantly, I successfully fired all my kindergarten clay projects. We've been studying Ancient Egypt. Each kid got to make his or her own cartouche--basically, a fancy pendant that spelled the pharaohs name in hieroglyphics. Here is my favorite:

That's right. A slice of pepperoni pizza. Cannot wait until it's painted and hung around a five-year-old's neck. Good God.

To the movies!
